We’re starting a new wave

The Home Bass Movement Artist Residency is an open invitation to explore, create, and share your movement art in exchange for helping nurture the heartbeat of our community space. Our mission is to offer you space, structure, and meaningful connection so you can focus on developing new work while being an active part of the vibrant energy that makes Home Bass what it is.

Our residency is rooted in co-creation, authenticity, and resistance. We welcome all forms of dance and movement practice that honor their roots and push the form forward. This is your chance to connect deeply with Home Bass and our thriving, house-centered dance community in a way that’s open, playful, and uniquely yours. You’ll have the freedom to shape your journey, create on your terms, and build a relationship with the space that feeds your artistry.

What We’re Looking For

When selecting residents, we value:

• Alignment with Our Values: How do you embody co-creation, authenticity, and resistance in your practice?
• Cultural Contribution: How will your presence and perspective add a unique flavor to the space, evolving our shared culture and practices?
• Cultural Context & Intention: How aware are you of the cultural lineage of your form? How do you plan to honor that lineage while innovating and pushing boundaries?
• Community Engagement & Impact: How do you imagine bringing people together? We hope residents can engage a well-sized and meaningful community and create an experience that genuinely gives something back.
• Operational Collaboration: Home Bass thrives because of its people. How do you see yourself supporting our operations and working alongside staff to keep the space running smoothly?
• Diverse Cohort: We seek a mix of residents at different stages of artistic maturity — from emerging voices to seasoned practitioners — to cultivate a rich and varied exchange.

We’re looking for artists who are self-motivated, community-minded, and ready to bring their boldest, most authentic selves. If that sounds like you, we’d love for you to join our cohort.

Residency Application

Applications for the fall season open on September 14, 2025 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
