Up to this point, the project has been mostly run by the three founders/keepers – Aya, Byron, and Gunny – with help from volunteers on smaller tasks. With Gunny leaving for Singapore soon, there’s a void to be filled on the financial, administrative, and strategic aspects.
The hope is that by breaking out our responsibilities and listing them, we can lean into our community, and find untapped alignments. Maybe Home Bass hires someone to manage a specific area like Calendar Administration. Maybe similar work is shared across orgs, like event listings or social media. Maybe space upkeep is formalized as a means of reciprocity for opening up the space. We’re open to ideas!

Projected responsibilities
This is an attempt at an exhaustive list of work that will need to be done to sustain Home Bass, grouped by area.
🏠Space Maintenance
- Daily Upkeep: Watering plants, taking out trash/recycling, washing dishes, sweeping, and mopping floors.
- Inventory: Restocking all consumable supplies (trash bags, tea, paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies).
🤝 Event Hospitality & Logistics
- Event Logistics: The hands-on work of setup, A/V support, moving furniture, and breakdown.
- Hospitable Host: Being present, responsible, and welcoming to guests during events like co-working or dance sessions.
- Hospitality: Hosting overnight guests, like dancers from abroad.
🎨 Programming & Curation
- In-house programming: Sparking Home Bass-led initiatives, like house session, co-working, or "Each One Teach One."
- Curation & Partnership: Fielding requests, meeting with potential organizers, giving tours, and co-creating events that align with HB's values. Example requests include public dance sessions, dance workshops, film screenings, concerts, fashion shows.

- Communications: Being the voice of Home Bass. Developing and maintaining the HB identity and brand. Spreading the word through various channels. Creating flyers and social media content.
- Partnerships & Mutual Aid: Finding and building relationships with other organizations and mutual aid opportunities.
